CYPRUS AIRWAYS SHUTS DOWN AFTER EU RULING

Cyprus Airways , the loss making carrier of Cyprus, has been shut down with immediate effect. The airline has received huge subsidies over the past few years which it cannot afford to repay - although it has been ordered to do so. Hopefully an airline like Easyjet or Aegean airlines will take up the missing slots. The main base of Larnaca airport will be effected with a number of job losses as a result.
